Die zentrale christologische Passage des Ersten Petrusbriefs steht im Kontext der Mahnungen an die Sklaven. Jisk Steetskamp setzt in dieser Untersuchung das Leid der Sklaven mit der Passion Christi in ein paradigmatisches Verhaltnis, in das er die ganze Gemeinschaft der Adressaten miteinbezieht. Wahrend der Erste Petrusbrief zunachst wie eine Anleitung zur Unterwurfigkeit wirkt, fallen bei genauerem Hinsehen gegenlaufige Textsignale auf. Mit Bezug auf die Exoduserzahlung ladt der Autor zu einer Lekture unter der Textoberflache ein. Obwohl der Verfasser des Ersten Petrusbriefs mit dem wiederkehrenden Verb ‘unterordnen’ zur Eingliederung in bestehende Verhaltnisse aufzufordern scheint, positioniert eben dieses Verb, kraft der sklavenperspektivischen Schlussmahnung, die Adressaten jenseits der hierarchischen Strukturen des Romischen Imperiums.
