Diese methodologische und exegetische Studie ist dem Paulus gewidmet, der “lieber funf Worte mit Bewusstsein spricht, als zehntausend Worte in Verzuckung” (1Kor 14,19): Methodologisch wird zunachst anhand von Anwendungsbeispielen aus der Bibel des Paulus, der Septuaginta, das Handwerkszeug der modernen Textlinguistik und des rhetorical criticism vorgestellt. Exegetisch wird sodann an Rom 9-11 die Koharenz und Einsichtigkeit der paulinischen Argumentation gezeigt – eine Einsichtigkeit aufgrund angebbarer judischer, griechischer und auch spezifisch christlicher Pramissen. Die Schriftzitate sind nach Regeln eingefugt, die sich gleichfalls angeben lassen. Das Schlusskapitel gibt eine Gesamtcharakteristik paulinischer Argumentation im Kontrast zu anderen religiosen “Diskursen” der Zeit.
