Das Gebot der Liebe gibt es gar nicht. In der Bibel lesen wir vom Gebot, Gott zu lieben, vom Gebot, den Nachsten zu lieben wie sich selbst, sowie vom Gebot, den Feind zu lieben. Ihnen allen liegt mehr oder deutlich das Prinzip der Gegenseitigkeit zugrunde. Erst in dieser Kontur zeigt sich die Provokation dieser Gebote fur die damalige wie fur die moderne Gesellschaft. Dazu gehorte und gehort auch die Moglichkeit der Liebe mit der Realitat von Schuld und Leid zu konfrontieren. Deshalb geht Christof Breitsameter den Fragen nach, ob Gott auch eine Welt ohne Schuld und Sunde und so mit weniger Leid hatte schaffen konnen, ob Wunder moralisch sind und ob es erlaubt oder Pflicht ist zu vergeben. Von daher bringt der Autor schliesslich Gottesliebe, Selbstliebe, Nachstenliebe und Feindesliebe in ein systematisches Verhaltnis.
