Als anthropologische Grundphanomene sind die Hauptlaster unter dem popularen Begriff der Sieben Todsunden hochaktuell. Stolz, Zorn, Habgier oder Neid betreffen das Sein und Handeln jedes Menschen. Was aber zeichnet ein Hauptlaster im Unterschied zur Emotion oder zur Todsunde aus? Lassen einzelne Hauptlaster wie Stolz oder Zorn nicht auch eine positive Deutung zu? Diesen und weiteren Fragen geht die Arbeit nach. Ihr Ziel ist es, gegen jede moralisierende Engfuhrung ein theologisch-ethisch tragfahiges Verstandnis der Hauptlaster zu entwickeln. Dieses nimmt die Handlungswirklichkeit des Individuums wahr und begreift Hauptlaster nicht nur als schematisch gebundene, negative Grundhaltungen, sondern auch als kontextualisierte Begriffe und Selbstentwicklungsaufgaben.
