Dirk Westerkamp untersucht erstmals die Sprachphilosophie des Deutschen Idealismus und fuhrt den Nachweis der bleibenden Relevanz ihrer aufs Ganze gehenden Sprachreflexion. Dabei unterscheidet er grob zwei entwicklungsgeschichtliche Phasen. Beide sind durchdrungen von der Reflexion auf Sprache als Gegenstand, aber auch als Form der Reflexion selbst. Indem die Sprache nicht nur Thema, sondern auch Medium systematischen Philosophierens ist, tritt die sprachliche Gestaltung der idealistischen Systementwurfe selbst hervor. Der Autor zeigt, dass diese Systementwurfe nach einer Doppelgestalt von Logotektonik und Diegetik, von logischer Argumentationsarchitektur und narrativer Gestaltungsidee verlangen. Dirk Westerkamp stellt systematisch dar, wie der Auseinandersetzung von Idealismus und Realismus ein ebenso sprachphilosophisch gehaltvoller wie linguistisch versierter Diskurs uber das Verhaltnis von Sprache und Denken, Sprache und Welt, Sprache und Subjektivitat entspringt.
