The civilizations of Asia have created an endless variety of myths of origin – origin of the cosmos, of a society, of a royal dynasty, of language, of writing and many others. Reflexion on the origin in a local culture generally consists in looking back to its roots and its originality. India and China have extended their cultural influence on the people of neighbouring regions. But the local myths of origin have restored the individuality of each one. The conference on the theme of myths of origin in the civilazations of Asia, held in December 2018, has revealed deep, poetical elements of imagination in the leading Asian cultures.
