English summary: This book focuses on the study of two conspiracies (Kuleli Meslek in 1859 and in 1867), born in the capital of the Ottoman Empire, Istanbul, and revealed at the time that the conspirators were preparing to dethrone the sultan (first attempts at dethroning since the abolition of the Janissaries in 1826, whom were previously the principal threat to the sultans). This book analyzes the new type of revolts and rebels who tried to “undo” the Ottoman sultan. The book attempts to rewrite the history of these two conspiracies to examine their structure, operations and strategies while at the same time, illuminating the motivations, political demands and social profiles of the conspirators. The work raises the question about the specifics of these two attempts in the context of social and political transformations of the 1850s and 1860s, and thus contributes to a better understanding of changes in the Ottoman political space.
