Die wichtigen Wendepunkte in der Fremdsprachendidaktik und in der Fremdsprachenlehr- und -lernforschung lassen sich auf verschiedenen Ebenen beobachten. Der Band stellt explizite und implizite Wendepunkte dar. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Veranderungen in den Methoden des Fremdsprachenunterrichts, in der Auffassung und in den Forderungsmoglichkeiten verschiedener fremdsprachlicher Kompetenzen sowie in der Konzeptualisierung der (produktiven) Sprachfertigkeiten und in der Arbeit an ihnen. Der Wandel in der Sprachbildung, d. h. in den Inhalten des Fremdsprachenunterrichts und in den Wegen zur Schulung und Entwicklung verschiedener Sprachfertigkeiten und Kompetenzen, wird analysiert, ebenso die Veranderungsprozesse in der Rolle, in den Funktionen und in der Ausbildung von Fremdsprachenlehrkraften.

The important turning points in foreign language teaching and learning methodology and research can be observed at different levels. In this volume, both explicit and implicit turning points are presented. The contributions focus on the changes in the methods of foreign language teaching, on some theoretical shifts, on the ways of promoting different foreign language competencies, as well as on the conceptualization of (productive) language skills and the ways of developing them. The collected contributions analyze the shifts in language education, that is in the content of foreign language teaching and in the ways of developing different language skills and competencies. The volume also discusses the evolutions in the role, functions, and training of language teachers.
