Die zweibandige ‘Urindogermanische Grammatik’ ist als Fundament der vielbandigen und multiauktorialen ‘Indogermanischen Grammatik’ konzipiert. Zunachst erscheint, gleichsam als Kernbereich des Urindogermanischen, der Band ‘Flexionsparadigmen’; ein Appendix mit erlauternden Anmerkungen macht ihn autonom benutzbar. Diese Grammatik stellt ein Novum innerhalb der Indogermanistik dar. Sie verzichtet bewusst auf die explizite Anfuhrung der indogermanischen Materialbasis und beschrankt sich auf Beschreibung und Erklarung der grundsprachlichen Formen und Strukturen. Das Werk basiert zwar auf dem Befund der indogermanischen Sprachen und der daraus resultierenden externen Rekonstruktion, die Hauptrolle spielen jedoch die interne Rekonstruktion sowie die zugrunde gelegte theoretische Architektur der urindogermanischen Grundsprache in ihrer abstrakten Einheit und konkreten Vielfalt.
