Aktuell zeigen der Synodale Weg der romisch-katholischen Kirche (2021-2024) sowie synodale Prozesse in verschiedenen Ortskirchen, wie zentral das Verstandnis von Synodalitat fur die Kirche und ihr Selbstverstandnis ist. Damit geht zugleich eine okumenische Perspektive einher, aus der konfessions- und landerubergreifend theologische, pastorale und kirchenrechtliche Aspekte von Synodalitat in den jeweiligen Kirchen betrachtet werden. Dabei leuchten die Beitragerinnen und Beitrager auch das in okumenischer Hinsicht bislang wenig genutzte Potenzial von Synodalitat aus. Sie widmen sich Themen, die innerkirchliche und okumenische Debatten in den kommenden Jahren pragen werden, und erortern, welche Chancen es dabei zu ergreifen gilt.
