Voici une traduction entierement nouvelle de Uji, traduit ici par Je suis temps, l’un des textes constitutifs du Shobogenzo de Dogen (1200-1253). Bien qu’il prone un bouddhisme neuf, le zen, Dogen ne se pose pas en revolutionnaire. C’est, en effet, sur les dogmes qui sont restes quasiment immuables dans la longue histoire du bouddhisme qu’il fonde son examen critique du temps. Quand il dit le temps est le fait meme que quelque chose soit et tout ce qui est est temps , Dogen ne fait qu’enoncer, a sa maniere, la loi de causalite. Son discours brillant, mais souvent cryptique, justifie l’adjonction des commentaires approfondis qui accompagnent cette traduction. L’etonnante photographie de Hiroshi Sugimoto, veritable koan visuel, offre un faisceau de significations dans le droit fil de la pensee bouddhique.
