This study examines the correlation between satire and postmodernism in contemporary literature. The conventional, clearly critical perspective on the satirical object can barely be maintained against the concept of ontological- epistemological postmodernist doubt. Facing this is a strong similarity in the stylistic devices, given that the instruments of the satirical ‘arsenal’, in particular irony and its parodist techniques, can almost invariably also be regarded as characteristics of the postmodern novel. It has been concluded that either satirical writing was impossible under postmodern conditions or postmodernism was declared a ‘satirical era’. This study criticizes such approaches and instead analyzes the modified function of satirical means, given that generalizations regarding the possibility or alternatively the impossibility of satirical writing are not appropriate due to the complex approach featured in contemporary satirical texts. German text.
