By (author) R. Lepage
In this book, the author proposes to ritualize the priesthood of the baptized in the liturgy, in a flexible way, so that this dignity of all Christians becomes more focused for them. In order to explore the theological foundations of such ritualization, he takes as his starting point the concept of the “ritualized agent” of Catherine Bell, a specialist in ritual studies, who believes that a subject who puts into practice the rituality that constitutes him- or herself allows them to be shaped by their context and in turn shape it. An analysis of the ritualized agent is put in interaction with the thinking of four postmodern sacramental theologians in order to articulate what a “Christian ritualistic agent” might be. This approach makes it possible to articulate what happens in a Christian who ritualizes the priesthood of the baptized in the liturgy.
