English summary: In recent years, there has been an increased interest in historically oriented literary research on the Koran. The Western debate is taking place independent of hermeneutically orientated Islamic Koran exegesis, with the result that any form of mutual awareness and appreciation is almost entirely absent. The complete historical and literary analysis of Sura 18 presented in the first part of this volume primarily explores the effect that the text had on its first, not Muslim listeners in a late classical setting. Using modified step-by-step methodology from historical-critical Bible exegesis and by taking into account issues of aesthetic reception, it becomes clear that the Sura is a complex literary entity that reflects a vibrant process of communication. The second part of the volume is devoted to Sayyid Qutb’s (1906-1966) literary-aesthetic interpretations of the Qur’an and provides a complete German translation of his commentary of Sura 18 for the first time. This synopsis of two otherwise unrelated approaches makes it possible to jointly assess and compare both the limits and potential of Western and Islamic hermeneutics. German description: In den letzten Jahren kann man ein gesteigertes Interesse an historisch orientierter literaturwissenschaftlicher Koranforschung verzeichnen. Die westlichen Debatten verlaufen dabei unabhangig von der hermeneutisch anders gelagerten islamischen Koranexegese, sodass eine gegenseitige Wahrnehmung und Wurdigung fast ganzlich fehlt. Die im ersten Teil dieses Bandes vorgelegte historisch-literaturwissenschaftliche Gesamtanalyse von Sure 18 erforscht primar die Wirksamkeit des Textes auf seine ersten, noch nicht muslimischen Horer in einer spatantiken Umwelt. Mit modifizierten Methodenschritten aus der historisch-kritischen Bibelexegese und unter Berucksichtigung rezeptionsasthetischer Uberlegungen wird deutlich, wie die Sure eine komplexe literarische Einheit darstellt und wie sie einen lebendigen Kommunikationsprozess widerspiegelt. Der zweite Teil widmet sich der literarisch-asthetischen Koranexegese Saiyid Qutbs (1906-1966) und bietet erstmals eine vollstandige deutsche Ubersetzung seiner Kommentierung von Sure 18. Die Untersuchungen von Qutbs Studien at-Taswir al-fanni fi-l-Qur’an und Ma’ahid al-qiyama fi l-Qur’an zeigen, wie stark sein Korankommentar Fi ilal al-Qur’an von einem philologischen Textzugang gepragt ist, der sein zeitgenossisches muslimisches Publikum politisch und religios motivieren soll. Ein abschliessender Vergleich lasst die Eigengesetzlichkeiten, Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten beider Ansatze vor Augen treten. Diese Zusammenschau zweier ansonsten nicht in Beziehung gesetzter Zugange bietet die Moglichkeit, Grenzen und Potenziale westlicher und islamischer Hermeneutiken gemeinsam zu bewerten und fruchtbar zu machen.
