Der vorliegende Band enthalt eine vollstandige und systematische Analyse der gotischen Substantive hinsichtlich ihrer Derivationstypen unter synchronen, diachronen und sprachvergleichenden Gesichtspunkten. Im Materialteil wird das gotische Korpus nach den jeweiligen Suffixen geordnet besprochen, wobei neben den synchronen Wortbildungsregeln v. a. Fragen nach Suffixkonkurrenz, -ablosung und Produktivitat im Vordergrund stehen. Eine Aufstellung der semantischen Funktionsgruppen am Ende des Buches gibt einen Uberblick uber die Suffixtypen, die im Gotischen als produktiv anzusehen sind.
