English summary: The oberservation that highway churches and chapels are becominge more and more popular was the starting point of this study. The second approach places perspectives an examination of their distinguishing characteristics as church spaces into perspective. In this approach, case studies on spatial concepts and constructions of space are carried out and spatial constructions on the basis of an insight into (ecclesiastical) spatial theories, focusing on case-internal analyses on the one hand, and on cross-case comparisons on the other hand of selected highway churches and chapels on the other.
