Ce que l’on a appele la crise de la raison fut vecu, dans certains milieux francais, comme quelque chose qui, loin de conduire a renoncer au rationalisme, l’exalta. Au nom du rationalisme et de sa sauvegarde dans la crise, se constitua subrepticement une alliance et un echange entre histoire et epistemologie aux consequences tres importantes. Pourtant, jusqu’ici personne n’a mis clairement l’accent sur cet echange. Cet ouvrage tente de mettre l’accent sur cette alliance qui constitue le coeur de tout l’effort theorique fait en France pendant des decennies face a ce que nous appellerons l’epistemologie du rationalisme experimental.
