Les deux livres du chapitre executes a la fin du XIIIe et au debut du XIVe siecle pour le chapitre cathedral Saint-Just et Saint-Pasteur de Narbonne ont ete brules avec toutes les archives capitulaires en aout 1793 sur l’ordre de la municipalite narbonnaise. Heureusement, une copie integrale – une des rares copies integrales connues d’obituaires medievaux faites sous l’Ancien Regime – avait ete realisee au debut du XVIIIe siecle par un minime de Toulouse, le P. Francois Laporte, originaire de Narbonne et bibliothecaire de l’archeveque bibliophile Charles Le Goux de La Berchere, copie conservee a la bibliotheque municipale de Toulouse (Ms. 623). Quelques extraits de ce texte avaient ete publies par A. Molinier dans le tome VIII de l’edition Privat de l’Histoire generale de Languedoc (Toulouse, 1879), sous le titre errone de Chronique de Saint-Just de Narbonne. L’edition annotee donne le texte integral du martyrologe (un abrege du martyrologe d’Adon) et du necrologe qui l’accompagnait, riche de 712 entrees, souvent detaillees et surtout datees pour 276 d’entre elles entre 1121 et 1709, ce qui est tout a fait exceptionnel dans un obituaire.
