Le dialogue de Kant avec les penseurs de langue anglaise joue un role important dans la genese de sa propre philosophie, et ce, dans des domaines tres divers de sa pensee tant pratique que theorique. Or, si ses interpretations de Locke ou de Hume ou encore l’influence precoce qu’exercerent sur sa physique, sa cosmologie et, plus largement, sur sa philosophie naturelle les Principia mathematica de Newton sont bien connues, sa connaissance et sa frequentation d’autres auteurs anglo-saxons ou ecossais, tels que Smith, Burke ou Hutscheson, sont moins etudiees. De meme et symetriquement, la reception du kantisme dans l’ere anglo-saxonne, notamment chez Coleridge, Sidgwick, Moore ou Madison, est encore rarement mise en lumiere. Aussi le present volume tente-t-il d’eclairer quelques-uns des pans decisifs de ce dialogue de Kant avec les penseurs anglo-saxons, soulignant a la fois leur apport, direct ou indirect, a la constitution du philosopher critique et l’influence que celui-ci exerca et continue d’exercer sur les anglo-saxons.
