L’emergence du discours philosophique, autour du VIe siecle av. J.-C., a fait naitre la possibilite de porter un regard neuf sur les recits et les textes de la tradition poetico-mythologique, davantage soucieux de purete, de moralite et d’une forme nouvelle de rationalite. Le domaine theologique et religieux se presente comme un terrain d’enquete privilegie pour comprendre la maniere dont la philosophie, dans l’Antiquite, a juge et interprete les mythes, non pas seulement en raison de la place preeminente que les dieux y occupent, mais aussi en raison de leur source. Le discours mythologique se presente toujours comme un discours divinement inspire, de meme que la reflexion que la philosophie peut en elaborer semble toujours soulever la question de l’autorite des recits mythologiques et de l’origine divine a laquelle on peut etre tente de les faire remonter. En faisant le choix, dans ce volume, d’interroger le rapport de la philosophie au mythe a travers le prisme theologique et religieux, on espere donc pouvoir cerner de plus pres, dans ses racines et ses principes constitutifs, le pouvoir d’inventivite conceptuelle et discursive du questionnement philosophique sur le mythe.
