English summary: The humanist Johannes Sturm was one of the most important educators of the 16th century and of Protestantism. Sturm was the founder and the rector of the Gymnase Protestant in Strasbourg. He was the author of numerous editions and commentaries on texts from antiquity, treatises on rhetoric, agendas for the educational system as well as schoolbooks and textbooks. He was involved in the creation of religious policies and as a diplomat attempted to mediate between France and the German Protestant rulers in order to improve the situation of the Huguenots. An advocate of a certain degree of tolerance, he was involved in a clash with the second generation of reformers in Strasbourg. The authors of this volume explore the image of the humanist in various ways on the basis of new sources. German description: Der Humanist Johannes Sturm gehort zu den wichtigsten Padagogen des 16. Jahrhunderts und des Protestantismus. Sturm war Grunder und Rektor der Strassburger Hohen Schule. Er verfasste zahlreiche Editionen und Kommentare uber Texte der Antike, Traktate uber die Rhetorik, Programmschriften uber das Bildungswesen sowie Schul- und Lehrbucher. Weniger bekannt, aber ebenso wichtig fur die Geschichte Europas, ist das religionspolitische Engagement dieses Anhangers der Reformation: als Diplomat versuchte er, zwischen Frankreich und den deutschen evangelischen Fursten zu vermitteln, um die Lage der Hugenotten zu verbessern; als Anwalt einer gewissen Toleranz geriet er in Konflikt mit der zweiten Generation der Reformatoren in Strassburg, die die Reformierten in ihrer Stadt nicht mehr dulden wollten.Seit der Biographie Charles Schmidts 1855 hat keine Studie das Gesamtwirken Sturms erfasst. Der vorliegende Band schliesst diese Lucke, indem er vier Hauptthemen erforscht und das Bild des Humanisten auf der Basis neuerer Quellen in vielerlei Hinsicht vervollstandigt oder sogar andert: I.
