This volume rounds off an edition project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), which was intended to edit the two early works of the Paris-born author Johannes von Thoulouze. The first volume has now been published (edd. Anette Loffler and Rainer Berndt [Corpus Victorinum. Textus historici, vol. 4], Munster 2017). The proposition of the now final phase of the project is to also bring the Congregatio Victorina into print, in accordance with the editorial rules practised at the Institute. The Victorine chronicler and historiographer John of Toulouse (1590-1659) has so far only been known to specialists in the history of the city of Paris and the early modern history of the Canons Regular of Paris. This 17th-century canon not only had a responsible career in his convent as the long-standing prior of the Athis Priory north of Paris, but he also left behind a considerable historiographical oeuvre.
