Issu d’une reflexion partagee entre specialistes de l’Egypte tardive et specialistes des questions de genre antique, ce volume se concentre sur les capacites d’action (agency) des femmes en Egypte, entre le Ve siecle av. J.-C. et le VIIIe siecle ap. J.-C. dans une perspective d’histoire sociale. Plus de 200 noms de femmes emergent de ces travaux, mettant en lumiere la necessite d’une approche mixte des societes antiques. Consulter les oracles, formuler une petition, prendre des decisions, connaitre ses droits, divorcer ou encore tenir des comptes et gerer une entreprise: telles sont les actions, leurs contextes et leurs limites qu’etudient les contributions de ce volume, a partir d’une documentation constituee de papyrus et d’ostraca demotiques, grecs et coptes.
