In funf der sieben uberlieferten Briefe spielt Paulus die damit verbundene Vorstellung, oftmals an Schlusselstellen, ein. Die Forschungsliteratur zu diesem Themenfeld konzentriert sich in der Regel entweder auf die Berufung des Paulus oder die Erwahlung Israels, womit ausgeblendet wird, dass sich die Stellen mehrheitlich auf die Gemeindeglieder beziehen. Annette Weippert nimmt den paulinischen Gesamtbefund zu Erwahlung und Berufung in den Blick, unter Berucksichtigung des traditionsgeschichtlichen Kontextes in Form alttestamentlicher, fruhjudischer und paganer griechisch-romischer Schriften. Dabei arbeitet sie nicht nur die Bedeutung des Vorstellungszusammenhangs innerhalb des paulinischen Denkens heraus, sondern widmet sich insbesondere der textpragmatischen Funktion innerhalb des jeweiligen Briefkontextes.
