Die vorliegende Arbeit stellt 350 Redewendungen der Lutherbibel vor. Sie erklart ihre Bedeutung im Kontext des Bibeltextes und verdeutlicht ihren Einfluss auf die deutsche Sprache an Beispielen aus literarischen Werken (Belletristik, Lieddichtung, Philosophie, Geschichte). English summary: The Bible contains a treasure trove of popular idioms. They include, for example, laughing in one’s sleeve, one’s hair standing on end, striving against the stream. Martin Luther and his team of translators liked to use them to vividly translate the original biblical language, looking at how people really talk. Idioms are fixed word combinations of a language community. They reflect attitudes and behaviours, simplify communication, and make linguistic expressions attractive. This work presents 350 idioms of the Luther Bible. It explains their meaning in the context of the biblical text and illustrates their influence on the German language with examples from literary works (fiction, song poetry, philosophy, history).
