A closer, cross-cutting look at gender equality and the gender issue is on the agenda in today’s globalized world. The field of current religious studies, particularly in exegesis and theology, is part of this project in order to bring these two issues together at their roots. In this volume, exegetes as well as theologians question the binarity of genders, including the binary spirit that tacitly or explicitly presides over the very definition of multiple sexual identities. The authors thus take up the great challenge of equality for women and men, from the recognition of its “inescapable” character to its complete questioning. They patiently explore the diversity of biblical representations of gender and human sexuality, revealing the unsuspected traits of characters whose audacity illuminates the debates in this field through an intersectional approach.
Un regard croise et plus serre sur l’egalite femmes-hommes et sur la question du genre est a l’ordre du jour das le contexte contemporain mondialise. Le domaine des etudes religieuses actuelles, en exegese et en theologie notamment, ne manque pas de s’inscrire dans ce projet afin d’amener ces deux problematiques a se rejoindre radicalement, a leur racine, en un seul et meme horizon a suivre sans jamais pouvoir etre atteint. Des exegetes ainsi que des theologiennes et des theologiens voulant faire route ensemble interrogent la binarite des genres, y compris l’esprit binaire qui preside tacitement ou explicitement a la definition meme de multiples identites sexuelles. Les autrices et les auteurs du volume reprennent ainsi a leur compte le grand defi, pour des femmes et pour des hommes, de l’egalite, depuis la reconnaissance de son caractere incontournable a son entiere remise en question. Ils et elles explorent patiemment la diversite de representations bibliques quant aux genres et aux sexualites humaines, revelant des traits insoupconnes de personnages dont l’audace eclaire les debats dans ce domaine par une approche intersectionnelle.
