This volume offers ten contributions on the Testament of Solomon dealing with the Greek and Oriental tradition around King Solomon as exorcist and temple builder. It provides new and unstudied Greek, Arabic and Coptic material in critical editions and modern translations (English, German, and Italian).

Das Testamentum Salomonis erzahlt die legendare Geschichte von Konig Salomo, der, unterstutzt von Damonen, den Jerusalemer Tempel erbauen liess. Als ein Damon den Lieblingsdiener Salomos befallt, bittet der Konig Gott um Hilfe. Und tatsachlich sendet dieser den Erzengel Michael, um Salomo einen magischen Siegelring zu uberreichen, der ihn dazu befahigt, Damonen zu rufen und zu binden. So bezwingt Salomo nacheinander eine Reihe von Damonen und macht sie fur den Tempelbau dienstbar. Der vorliegende Band versammelt sechs uberwiegend editionsphilologisch ausgerichtete Beitrage und vier Studien zu dieser spatantiken parabiblischen Schrift. Die Beitrage widmen sich der griechischen, arabischen, koptischen und georgischen Tradition um Konig Salomo als Exorzist und Tempelbauer. Sie bieten neue Zugange zu bekannten Traditionen nebst editorisch neu erschlossenem Quellenmaterial.
