L’Egypte et le Nil ne cessent de faire rever, comme en temoigne l’illustre adage “l’Egypte est un don du Nil”, qui souligne le role fondamental de la crue d’autrefois. Renouveler l’exploration de la thematique du role central du Nil et de la mer dans la civilisation egyptienne allait de soi dans la tradition egyptologique neo-louvaniste. Les etudes rassemblees dans ce volume sous la plume d’egyptologues chevronnes offrent une variete d’approches sur ce theme, associant les sources textuelles, iconographiques, geographiques, climatologiques et archeologiques, ainsi qu’une couverture chronologique tres large: de la periode predynastique a nos jours. Plusieurs axes de perception du Nil et de la mer sont proposes dans cet ouvrage. Le premier concerne la mobilite et le voyage (pelerinage, commercial ou militaire) que ce soit au sein de l’Egypte-meme ou hors de ses frontieres. Le second axe de reflexion se focalise sur des elements philologiques et linguistiques lies au registre de l’eau. Enfin, le dernier axe renvoie au Nil et a la mer et a leur intervention dans le monde mythique.
