Zur Funktion des Mythischen in der Johannesapokalypse am Beispiel von Apk 12

English summary: The mythical element is described in a unique manner in the Apocalypse of John. However all previous exegetical attempts by researchers to explain reverting to widespread myths by using literary criticism or attributing these to certain sources have failed. Thus, in the author’s opinion, the concept of the myth, which was established a long time ago, has to be reconsidered from the standpoint of hermeneutics. One of the significant preliminary criteria in this regard is the reception aesthetics approach, which attributes a decisive heuristic function to the history of reception of the apocalyptic text. Using chapter 12 as an example, Michael Koch shows how the Apocalypse of John is mythical and demonstrates the significance of this phenomenon for the structure of the book and for its influence on the reader. This means that the myth can be given a new meaning without being demythologized too quickly. German description: In einzigartiger Weise kommt das Mythische in der Johannesapokalypse zur Darstellung. Alle bisherigen exegetischen Versuche, den absichtsvoll gestalteten Ruckgriff auf weit verbreitete Mythologeme literarkritisch bzw. durch Quellenzuschreibungen aufzulosen oder gar zu entmythologisieren, durfen jedoch aufgrund immer neuer Aporien in der Auslegung inzwischen als gescheitert angesehen werden. Deshalb ist der langst etablierte Mythosbegriff insbesondere mit Blick auf das in ihm bereitgestellte Denkangebot sowie hinsichtlich seiner Pragmatik hermeneutisch neu zu uberdenken. Eine wichtige Vorentscheidung bildet dabei die rezeptionsasthetische Einsicht, dass zwischen Textgestaltung und Wirkung ein unmittelbares Entsprechungsverhaltnis besteht, womit der Wirkungs- und Rezeptionsgeschichte des apokalyptischen Textes eine entscheidende heuristische Funktion zukommt. Die mythische Ausgestaltung der Johannesapokalypse kann daruber hinaus weder als ein Zufallsprodukt noch als ein blosser Zusatz des urchristlichen Verfassers erachtet werden. Vielmehr zeigt Michael Koch am Beispiel von Kapitel 12 paradigmatisch fur die gesamte Johannesapokalypse, in welcher Weise das neutestamentliche Buch mythisch gestaltet ist und welche Bedeutung diesem Phanomen fur den Aufbau des Buches einerseits sowie fur die Wirkung auf den Leser andererseits zukommt. So kann der Mythos bezuglich seiner inner- wie ausserliterarischen Funktionen neu bestimmt werden, ohne jedoch vorschnell entmythologisiert oder vereindeutigt zu werden.
