Die Religionen Israels/Palastinas in der Bronzezeit

Rudiger Schmitts Studie zu den bronzezeitlichen Religionen Israels/Palastinas widmet sich der Vorgeschichte der von ihm erorterten “Religionen Israels/Palastinas in der Eisenzeit” (AAT 94). Der geographische und zeitliche Raum der Darstellung umfasst das cis- und transjordanische Palastina vom 4. bis zum Ausgang des 2. Jt. v. Chr. innerhalb der Grenzen der modernen Territorien Israels/Palastinas und Jordaniens. Die Darstellung orientiert sich am religionssoziologischen Ansatz des religionsinternen Pluralismus, wonach religiose Praxis und Symbolsystem einer Religion je nach sozialem Kontext (Familie, gruppenbezogene Religionsausubung, lokale oder regionale Gemeinschaften, politische Herrschaft und religiose Eliten) unterschiedliche Auspragungen zeigen. Unterscheiden lassen sich demnach familiare, gruppenbezogene, lokale, regionale und offizielle bzw. offentliche Religion. Diesem Ansatz entsprechend ist die Struktur der Studie aufgebaut: Kap. 2 erortert “Die Gotterwelt der Fruh-, Mittel- und Spatbronzezeit”, Kap. 3 die “Familiare Religion, Hauskult und Totenfursorge”, Kap. 4 den “Arbeits- und gruppenbezogenen Kult”, Kap. 5 den “Regionalen Kult” und Kap. 6 die “Offizielle und offentliche Religion”. Im Anschluss an einen zusammenfassenden Uberblick (Kap. 7) sind umfangreiche analytische Verzeichnisse den theophoren Personennamen gewidmet.
