Die Erziehung des Menschen

Die Theologie der ostlichen Kirchenvater durchzieht der Gedanke, dass die “Vergottlichung” des Menschen, also die Angleichung des menschlichen Geistes an den Geist Gottes, das eigentliche Ziel der menschlichen Existenz ist. Mehr als andere Vater entfaltete Basilius von Casarea diesen Gedanken nicht nur in der Theorie, sondern versuchte ihn durch sein pastorales Wirken am konkreten Menschen in die Realitat umzusetzen. Selbst in Athen am klassischen Paideia-ldeal geformt, stellte er es in den Dienst der christlichen Erziehung. Die Erziehung des Menschen in Christus inspirierte nicht nur seinen priesterlichen und bischoflichen Dienst, es beseelte seine Tatigkeit als Organisator des asketischen Lebens, als Sozialreformer, Theologen, kirchlichen Gesetzgeber, liturgischen Reformer und kirchlichen Einheitsstifter. Dieser bisher nicht versuchte Ansatz uber den Erziehungsgedanken Werk und Wirken des grossen Kappadoziers zu fassen, zeigt ihn als geistlichen Vater und gibt Antwort auf manche Fragen, die seine Gestalt der Forschung bisher aufgeworfen hat.
