Was hat die Bibel der Ethik zu sagen? Was ist schriftgemasse Ethik? Kann die Bibel uberhaupt einen Beitrag zur ethischen Urteilsbildung leisten? Nicht selten ersetzt in Fragen der Ethik der Verweis auf biblische Texte die rationale Argumentation: Statt einer nachvollziehbaren Begrundung kommt es zu einer assoziativen, methodisch unkontrollierten Bezugnahme auf die Bibel. Die mit biblischen Versen ausgestattete Position wird der Kritik entzogen. Ambivalenzen, Differenzierungen und der strittige Charakter von ethischen Fragen bleiben auf der Strecke und das Aufklarungsinteresse der Ethik wird untergraben. Michael Roth fragt nach der Bedeutung von Bibel und Glaube fur die theologische Ethik und zeigt, welcher Ort den biblischen Schriften in der ethischen Argumentation zukommt.
