Die Adam- und Seth-Legenden im Syrischen «Buch der Schatzhöhle». Eine quellenkritische Untersuchung

Das syrische Buch der Schatzhohle stellt ein relativ spates Apokryphon dar, das lange Zeit nur marginale Aufmerksamkeit beanspruchen konnte. Thema dieser Untersuchung sind die in den ersten sieben Kapiteln der Schatzhohle aufbewahrten Adam- und Seth-Legenden. Diese werden quellenkritisch behandelt und auf ihre Ursprunge in der alteren judischen und christlichen Literatur zuruckgefuhrt. Dabei wird deutlich, dass viele Motive zwar judische Wurzeln haben, dem Verfasser der Schatzhohle aber erst durch christliche Vermittlung zugekommen sind. Insbesondere ist es nicht moglich, innerhalb der mit Adam und Seth befassten Passagen eine zugrundeliegende Quellenschrift zu rekonstruieren. Die Adam- und Seth-Legenden im Buch der Schatzhohle mussen daher als eigenstandige Kompilation eines unter orthodox-christlichem Gesichtspunkt schreibenden Autors aufgefasst werden.
