Das Matthausevangelium spricht vorzugsweise von Gott als “Vater in den Himmeln”. Wie verhalt sich dazu die eigentumliche Rede vom “Vater im Verborgenen”, die in den Rahmenversen des Vaterunsers dreifach begegnet? Lena Lutticke bietet eine monographische Auseinandersetzung mit Mt 6,1-6.16-18 auf der Grundlage dieser Gottespradikation. Darin wird deutlich, dass der Text eine theologische Gegenwartsaussage trifft, nicht also Gottes Verborgenheit, sondern seine Zugewandtheit betont. Der “Vater, der im Verborgenen ist und im Verborgenen sieht” ist eine spezifische Nuancierung, die den grundsatzlich transzendenten “himmlischen Vater” in einem abstrakten Raum lokalisiert, in dem (nur) er prasent ist und sehen kann. Diese Vorstellung von Gottesprasenz liegt auch der matthaischen Gebetstheologie zugrunde, die im Kontext von Mt 6 didaktisch vermittelt und im weiteren Verlauf des Evangeliums am Beispiel von Jesu Gebetspraxis narrativ entfaltet wird.
