Einleitung, kritischer Text, Übersetzung, Einzelanalyse

The commentary of Cyril of Alexandria (c. 376-444) on 1 Corinthians is among the least-known examples of patristic literature. This volume publishes the first comprehensive scientific study of this almost-forgotten text. It presents all manuscripts containing Greek fragments of the commentary and offers the first critical edition and translation into a modern language.

"...This volume has many virtues and will be useful for many people. For Cyril scholars, it provides a critical edition and translation of one of Cyril's neglected works, hopefully opening the door for more studies like this in the future and enhancing our ability to further our understanding of Cyril as an exegete, pastor, and theologian. For scholars of patristic exegesis, the book gives us more raw material to study, as well as introductory investigations into the commentary itself. For New Testament scholars, the volume provides a window into the ways that ancient Christians interpreted the Pauline epistles, thus enriching our understanding of 1 Corinthians." --David Kneip, Abilene Christian University, Review of Biblical Literature 1.5.2017
