English summary: Hans Peter Werner’s work comprises the first complete analysis of the entire corpus of excavation records for the area around the Anu-Adad temple in Assur. This reexamination of the building complex offers new insights into the construction and architecture of the temple and the smaller artifacts found within the temple as well as the construction history and the operational life of the sanctuary. This study contains photographs from the excavation documents, which are published here for the first time. The history of the excavation from the very beginning of archeological research is further illuminated in this volume with previously unpublished watercolor reconstructions of the Anu-Adad temple as well as customized sectional drawings by Walter Andrae that offer a number of views through the temple. As a result of the architectural descriptions provided in the book, two new possible reconstructions for the temple layout are also presented. This volume offers a complete catalog of the more than 2,400 objects from the temple and its immediate environs, of which only about 96 objects have been represented in previous publications, and nearly all of the objects are visualized graphically in this work. The artifact catalog can, for the most part, key individual objects that have received attention in previous publications to the specific object groups in the catalog. German description: Hans Peter Werners Werk beinhaltet die erste vollstandige Auswertung der gesamten Grabungsdokumentation fur den Bereich des Anu-Adad-Tempels. Die Neubearbeitung des Gebaudekomplexes liefert neue Erkenntnisse uber den Aufbau und die Architektur des Tempels, uber die darin geborgenen Kleinfunde sowie uber die Baugeschichte und die Nutzungsdauer des Heiligtums. Daruber hinaus werden Fotos aus der Grabungsdokumentation erstmals publiziert. Zusammen mit bislang unveroffentlichten farbigen Rekonstruktionsaquarellen und von Walter Andrae angefertigten Schnittzeichnungen durch den rekonstruierten Tempel wird auch ein Aspekt der Grabungsgeschichte aus den Anfangen der archaologischen Untersuchungen am Anu-Adad-Tempel beleuchtet. Als Ergebnis der Architekturbeschreibung werden zwei neue Rekonstruktionsvorschlage fur den Tempelgrundriss vorgelegt. Mit diesem Band erfolgt erstmalig – bisher waren nur ca. 96 Objekte publiziert – eine vollstandige Prasentation der mehr als 2.400 Kleinfunde aus dem Tempel und seiner unmittelbaren Umgebung, wobei nahezu jedes Objekt bildlich dokumentiert ist. Im Katalog der Kleinfunde konnte der grosste Teil der Objekte mit bereits vorliegenden Publikationen zu den einzelnen Objektgruppen verbunden werden.
