Dendara. Les structures décoratives du temple d’Hathor
By (author) S. Cauville
The economy of the temple of Hathor conforms to the strict standards employed in the architectural composition of its chapels. Each element is autonomous, yet they need to be perceived together. This volume catalogs and translates the decorative structures of the Temple of Hathor within their liturgical context. Based on the observance of strict rules and codes, the temple had to be presented forever as a perfect microcosm, from the floor of green silt to the vault of heaven. Egypt forms the horizontal base with its water, its land and even its gods. Philosophy develops vertically, from the subterranean crypts to the astronomical ceilings; it rises, so to speak, to Re the creator.
