Clero rurale e mondo contadino nell’Italia di Antico Regime
edited by Giuliano Pinto, Lorenzo Tanzini
This volume analyzes the role of rural clergy across central and northern Italy in pastoral care, asset management, social assistance, schooling and education, from the rural parishes of the Middle Ages to the radical transformations of the 18th and 19th centuries. Country priests acted as a link between rural communities and ecclesiastical and secular authorities, and as such they provide a unique point of observation for understanding Italian societies in the Ancien Regime.
