Autobiografie und Ekstase
Ausseralltagliches Bewusstsein in narrativer Rekonstruktion

In dieser religionswissenschaftlichen Untersuchung werden die Autobiografien bedeutender Ekstatiker der Religionsgeschichte und autobiografische Stegreiferzahlungen zeitgenossischer Individuen miteinander verglichen. Da Ekstase in den unterschiedlichsten kulturellen Konstellationen auftritt, reagieren die Betroffenen mit einem breiten Spektrum an narrativen Verhaltensweisen auf das neuartige Erleben, um es in ihre Gesamtpersonlichkeit zu integrieren. Paradoxerweise wird die Ekstase haufig zu einem neuen Markstein der narrativen Identitat, wahrend sie gleichzeitig alle relativen Identitatskonstruktionen grundsatzlich in Frage stellt. Die Betroffenen werden dabei in einen komplexen Deutungsprozess hineingezogen, der sich tiefgreifend auf ihre biografischen Entscheidungen und zu Grunde liegenden Lebensentwurfe auswirkt. Durch nur eine veritable Ekstase kann sich der Interpretationsmodus der eigenen Lebensgeschichte so grundlegend wandeln, dass im Anschluss daran die globale Deutungsstruktur kippt und Vergangenheit und Zukunft in einem neuen Licht erscheinen.
