Late Antiquity was, without doubt, one of the most fascinating periods in history. The fundamental political, religious, and economic changes and events around the Mediterranean from the 3rd to the 7th century AD prepared the ground for a new era commonly called the Middle Ages. It is here that the Old World experienced a political and cultural divide between the Christian occident and the Muslim orient a perception that has lasted until today. This volume publishes contributions to a conference focusing on Egypts place and role during this tumultuous time. German text.
English summary: Late Antiquity was, without doubt, one of the most fascinating periods in history.
