Edited by Despoina Tsiafakis Edited by Andreas Vlachopoulos
The fourth volume of the “Archaeology” series encompasses the regions of Macedonia and Thrace, which correspond to larger or smaller portions of the ancient areas of the same names. Following the methodology maintained throughout the series, this main work examines Macedonia and Thrace by region, starting from Pindos and Olympus and concluding at Evros. Introductory and comprehensive texts on the two regions, detailed maps, extensive photographic documentation, and selected bibliographies for each section supplement the work.Through a geophysical environment of rare diversity, the volume unfolds humanitys journey in a land that bridges East and West, as well as the Balkans and the Aegean. It offers the reader the opportunity to follow the historical and archaeological journey of Macedonia and Thrace from the remote prehistoric era to the end of antiquity, marked by the rise of Christianity. The works 85 authors, excavation directors, and experienced researchers in the field and ancient sources, present the most significant archaeological evidence from each region and record the conclusions of recent research, enriched with high-quality illustrations. The result is an updated and original contribution to the archaeological literature of Macedonia and Thrace. In Greek.
