This volume assembles essays by scholars from various disciplines and fields, who focus on the Holocaust and its medial transmission. The contributions not only reflect disciplinary but also generational differences in patterns of perception and interpretation of the Holocaust. All contributions are linked by one question: how can the knowledge about the Holocaust be conveyed in such a way that it can be appropriated and transferred into socially responsible action? After all, the complex and increasingly specialized knowledge of the Holocaust has to face this challenge – especially in light of current political developments.
