Die Bande des Solothurnischen Namenbuches behandeln die Flur- und Siedlungsnamen der jeweiligen Amtei des Kantons Solothurn. Die Lexika umfassen eine Sammlung von insgesamt gegen 50000 Orts-, Flur-, Siedlungs-, Strassen-, Gewasser- und Bergnamen.Der vorliegende sechste Band erweitert die Reihe des Solothurnischen Namenbuches um das Gebiet Bucheggberg-Wasseramt. Er enthalt die Sammlung von rund 12600 Namen von Ortlichkeiten (Fluren, Berge, Walder, Flusse, Strassen etc.) und Personen (Besitzer, Pachter u. a.). Dafur wurden rund 80000 handschriftliche, gedruckte, mundliche und kartographische wissenschaftlich transkribierte Belege aller 47 (historischen) Gemeinden der Amtei Bucheggberg-Wasseramt zusammengetragen. So wird die Orts- und Flurnamenlandschaft dieser Amtei erstmals in ihrer historischen Tiefe als Lexikon greifbar gemacht. Sprachwissenschaftliche Artikel und Namendeutungen erganzen die Darstellung.
