English summary: In his commentary on John, Hartwig Thyen refrains from dealing extensively with the genesis of the Gospel and its presumed sources. He interprets the Fourth Gospel as a highly poetic literary text, and examines the textual interplay with its three synoptic precursors. Hartwig Thyen’s assumption is that the author of the Gospel was not only aware of these precursors himself; he also took it for granted that there was a readership which was familiar with the texts, and these readers were able to understand the textual interplay. For Thyen, the Gospel of John is a text for all Christians or for everyone who is able to read, and not a work which addresses a specifically Johannine community which is isolated from the rest of the early church. German description: Hartwig Thyen geht in seinem Kommentar zum Johannesevangelium weniger auf die Genese des Evangeliums und seine mutmasslichen Quellen ein. Er interpretiert das vierte Evangelium vielmehr als hochpoetischen literarischen Text und untersucht das intertextuelle Spiel mit den drei synoptischen Vorgangern. Der Autor geht davon aus, dass der Verfasser des Evangeliums diese Vorganger nicht nur selbst kannte, sondern auch eine Leserschaft voraussetzte, die mit den Texten ebenfalls vertraut war und die intertextuellen Anspielungen verstehen konnte. Das Johannesevangelium stellt fur ihn – im Gegensatz zu z.B. Ernst Kasemann, Wayne Meeks oder Bruce Malina – einen Text fur alle Christen bzw. fur jeden des Lesens Machtigen dar, nicht eine Schrift, die sich an eine vom Rest des Urchristentums isolierte spezifisch johanneische Gemeinde richtete. Da Hartwig Thyen das Evangelium als literarisches Werk betrachtet, liefert sein Kommentar Vorschlage zu einer von vielen moglichen Lekture des Johannesevangeliums.
