Zur Verspottung Jesu als König der Juden durch die römischen Soldaten (Mk 15,16-20a) gibt es eine Parallelgeschichte bei Philo von Alexandrien zum Jahr 38 n.Chr. Diese wird mit der markinischen Verspottung verglichen. Beiden liegt die Vorstellung einer antiken Herrscheraudienz zugrunde. Jesu Verspottung kann als persiflierte Audienz (Spottaudienz) eines Königs gedeutet werden. Daran schließen sich Beobachtungen zur Komposition der Passionserzählung, zur markinischen Erzählkunst, zu Mantel und Kranz und zur Kreuz es theo logie des Markus an.
