Nurnberg – eine alte Handelsmetropole mit historischem Stadtkern. Ihre grossen Hallenkirchen St. Lorenz und St. Sebald zeugen vom fruhen Reichtum der Stadt. Im ersten Gymnasium nach reformatorischem Bildungsideal, 1526 von Philipp Melanchthon eingeweiht, lernen auch noch knapp ein halbes Jahrtausend spater Schuler Latein und Altgriechisch. Nurnberg war die erste Reichsstadt von Rang, die sich im 16. Jahrhundert Martin Luthers Reformation anschloss – noch immer stosst man hier auf Spuren aus dieser Zeit. Die Stadt wurde Zentrum des Buch und Bibeldrucks. Albrecht Durer und der Schusterpoet und Meistersinger Hans Sachs wirkten hier. Der Nurnberger Reformator Andreas Osiander verwahrte sich als erster gegen judenfeindliche Ritualmordlegenden. Heute herrscht in Nurnberg, der Stadt der Menschenrechte, ein beispielhaftes okumenisches Klima.
