Die Alchemie der Sprache

Die Monographie bietet die erste umfassende und systematische Untersuchung ausgewählter Bereiche der adjektivischen Wortbildung im Dänischen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Affixation, Konfixation und Semikomposition sowie die Frage nach der Abgrenzung und Klassifikation der daran beteiligten Morphemtypen. Auf der Grundlage eines Korpus von über 11.000 Adjektiven wird ein einheitliches Analysemodell entwickelt, das terminologische Unklarheiten reduziert und auch auf andere germanische Sprachen übertragbar ist. Die Studie dokumentiert zahlreiche bislang unbeschriebene oder wenig beachtete Morpheme und verdeutlicht zugleich die Dynamik und Wandelbarkeit wortbildender Strukturen im Dänischen.

This monograph provides a comprehensive study of adjectival word formation in Danish, focusing on affixation, confixation and semi-compounding. Based on a corpus of more than 11,000 adjectives, it develops a coherent model for the classification of bound morphemes and addresses longstanding terminological inconsistencies in the field. The analysis identifies previously undescribed or insufficiently documented morphemes and highlights the dynamic nature of word-formation processes. By proposing a set of clear classification criteria, the study offers a systematic framework for the analysis of Danish morphology that is also applicable to other Germanic languages.
