English summary: For over two decades Martin Friedrich was responsible for the theological and ecumenical work of the Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe (CPCE). This is a selection of his essays and lectures from that period, issued in honour of his 65th birthday and, at the same time, as a contribution to the 50th anniversary of the Leuenberg Agreement in 2023. The topics span the history of Protestantism in Europe in the sixteenth to nineteenth centuries, the prehistory, history and current activity of the CPCE, and Protestant contributions to the present ecumenical dialogue. About the author: Martin Friedrich (born in 1957), from 2002 study secretary of the Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe, and from 2003 adjunct professor of church history at Ruhr University Bochum.
