What shapes theological thought? What influences determine the development of theological doctrine? In how far are theologians as children of their time also children of their national and social environment? Lucius Kratzert addresses these questions using a new approach. Based on the theologically founded social concepts of Karl Barth, Friedrich Gogarten and Martin Werner – well-known representatives of Protestant theology in Germany and Switzerland – Kratzert analyses how social upbringing affects and manifests itself in theological teaching. It appears that socio-political attitudes rather than theological training define theological doctrine.
English summary: What shapes theological thought? What influences determine the development of theological doctrine? In how far are theologians as children of their time also children of their national and social environment? Lucius Kratzert addresses these questions using a new approach. Based on the theologically founded social concepts of Karl Barth, Friedrich Gogarten and Martin Werner – well-known representatives of Protestant theology in Germany and Switzerland – Kratzert analyses how social upbringing affects and manifests itself in theological teaching. It appears that socio-political attitudes rather than theological training define theological doctrine. German description: Was pragt theologisches Denken? Welche Einflusse bestimmen theologische Lehrbildung?
