Theologie fur das Leben
Pladoyer fur eine aufmerksame Kirche. Zum 65. Geburtstag hrsg. von Traudel Himmighofer
by Christian Schad
English summary: Theology and church belong inseparably together. Christian Schad, church president of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate in Germany from 2008 to 2021 and president of the Evangelical Federation since 2021, lives this unity. In 27 selected contributions, published here for the first time on the occasion of his 65th birthday, the volume covers a wide range of themes in three chapters: from Reformation theology, which is fundamental for Schad, to the contemporary significance of inner-Protestant church unions, the theological pioneers of the 19th and 20th centuries, up to his understanding of the church. He pleads for an “attentive church,” which will do justice to its mission in all its fields of action only if it is and remains a church that not only acts courageously, but first of all listens. The extensive bibliography of Christian Schad documents his manifold activities as a Protestant theologian and leading figure of his church.
